A Pair of Art Deco Bronze Greyhound Bookends on Onyx Bases - This pair of Art Deco bookends features stylized figures of greyhounds in a dynamic, low-slung running pose. The figures are cast in bronze with a dark brown patina and are mounted on rectangular, beveled bases of green banded onyx. The sleek, streamlined forms are characteristic of the 1920s-1930s aesthetic, emphasizing speed and athletic grace. Each stone base is finished with green protective felt on the underside. No signatures, foundry marks, or edition numbers are visible on the metal figures or the stone plinths. Base Length: 7.5 inches Base Width: 2.5 inches Base Height: 1 inch Overall Height: 4.5 inches. One onyx base features a significant chip to an upper beveled corner. There is visible yellowish adhesive residue and evidence of repair or reattachment at the points where the dogs' paws meet the stone bases. Minor flea-bite chips and surface scratches are present along the sharp edges of both onyx bases. The dark patina shows scattered wear and thinning on the high points of the musculature, particularly on the heads and haunches.
