Red Wing 5 Gallon Salt Glaze Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Elephant Ear Decoration - This Red Wing salt-glazed stoneware crock has a five gallon capacity and features a cylindrical form with a flared rim and two applied ear handles. The exterior is decorated with a hand-painted cobalt blue foliate spray known as the elephant ear pattern. The interior is finished with a dark brown Albany slip glaze. A hand-brushed cobalt mark indicating capacity is present on the upper shoulder of the vessel. Capacity: 5 gallons. A vertical hairline crack is present on the interior near the rim and extends downward. The exterior exhibits significant dark staining and discoloration, particularly on the left side and around the handles. Small chips and minor losses are visible along the rim and the base edge. The surface displays typical salt-glaze pitting and kiln-firing imperfections, including popped bubbles. The base shows standard shelf wear and minor chipping.
