Pueblo Blackware Pottery Jar with Matte Feather Design - This hand-coiled blackware pottery jar is crafted in the traditional style of the Santa Clara or San Ildefonso Pueblos of the American Southwest. The vessel features a classic black-on-black decorative scheme, consisting of a central band with a matte finish depicting a repeating stylized feather motif against a highly stone-polished ground. The jar is designed with a globular body, a short neck, and a flared, everted rim. The entire piece has been fired in a reduction environment to achieve its deep black coloration. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the exterior or the base. Diameter: 3.5 inches Height: 2.75 inches. The polished surface shows scattered fine scratches and scuffs consistent with age and handling. A small area of white fibrous residue is present on the center of the base, likely from a previous protective pad. Mineral deposits are visible on the interior of the rim and neck. No chips, cracks, or repairs are present.
