Tyler and Dillon Albany Salt Glazed Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration - This salt-glazed stoneware jar of ovoid form features two applied lug handles and was manufactured by the Tyler and Dillon partnership in Albany, New York, active circa 1826 to 1834. The front is impressed with the maker mark TYLER AND DILLON ALBANY, which is highlighted with cobalt blue. Below the mark is a hand-applied cobalt blue slip-trailed foliate decoration. The vessel is finished with a salt-glazed exterior and a dark brown Albany slip-glazed interior. The exterior surface displays a characteristic orange-peel texture. Rim diameter: 7.75 inches. The jar shows a visible hairline crack on the underside of the base and a small horizontal crack at the attachment point of one lug handle. Several small chips are located along the top rim. There is prominent overall staining and brown iron spotting on the body. General surface pitting and kiln-related imperfections are present.
