Ithaca No. 14 Granger Walnut Double Dial Calendar Mantel Clock - An Ithaca Calendar Clock Company No. 14 Granger model double dial perpetual calendar mantel clock. The walnut case is constructed with a tiered base and features a carved wooden decorative cresting. The clock displays two paper dials on zinc plates. The upper dial functions as the time dial with Roman numerals and two winding arbors for the strike and time movement. The lower dial is a perpetual calendar indicating the numerical day of the month around the perimeter and the day of the week and month through two central rectangular apertures. The lower dial is inscribed with the manufacturer logo and Manufactured By The Ithaca Calendar Clock Co., Ithaca, N.Y., Patented April 18th, 1865 and August 28th, 1866. A circular viewing aperture is positioned between the two dials. A retailer label for Rickeys Jewelry Store, 105 Perry St., Trenton, N.J. is partially preserved on the back of the case. Height: 24.5 inches. The carved top crest is detached from the main case body and shows evidence of past repair attempts including old glue residue and nail holes. Both paper dials have significant age related deterioration including heavy crazing, moisture staining, and some fading to the printed details. The walnut case exhibits moderate wear, scuffing, and minor wood loss at the base corners. The pendulum and winding key are missing. The movement has not been tested for functionality.
