Seth Thomas Parlor No. 3 Double Dial Calendar Clock - This is a Seth Thomas Parlor No. 3 double-dial perpetual calendar shelf clock, a classic example of late 19th-century American horology. The case is constructed of walnut with a rich, figured grain, featuring a molded cornice top and a stepped rectangular base. The facade is defined by two large, circular wood-framed glazed bezels. The upper time dial is painted metal and features Roman numeral hour markers, a minute track, and three centrally-mounted steel hands, including a long, thin alarm or seconds hand. Two winding arbors are present. The lower perpetual calendar dial utilizes the Mixter's mechanism, featuring an outer ring of Arabic numerals 1 through 31 and two rectangular apertures for the day of the week and the month. A central steel hand with a crescent moon counterweight indicates the date. The reverse of the clock retains its original wooden backboard secured with screws. Based on the provided scale, the top molding measures approximately 11.5 inches in width. The upper time dial exhibits significant distress, including heavy flaking, paint loss, and surface oxidation, particularly across the center and lower half. The lower calendar dial is in stable condition with light age-related yellowing.
