A Pair of Steuben Blue Aurene Art Glass Candlesticks, Shape 686 - A pair of art glass candlesticks crafted in Steuben signature Blue Aurene. Developed by Frederick Carder for Steuben Glass Works, the Aurene glass features an intense, metallic iridescent finish displaying brilliant shades of peacock blue with vibrant green, gold, and purple highlights. The candlesticks, designated as Steuben shape number 686, feature a flared rim and bulbous socket. The stems are designed with a decorative spiral twist that transitions into a smooth, tapered lower section, all supported by a wide, circular, slightly domed foot. Each piece is hand-blown glass and exhibits a polished pontil mark on the underside. Both candlesticks bear an etched signature on the underside of the base. Transcription of signature: STEUBEN AURENE 686 Height: 10 inches. The candlesticks are in very good overall condition. The iridescent finish remains vibrant and well-preserved across both pieces. There is minor shelf wear and light surface scratching on the underside of the bases consistent with age and typical use. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible in the provided images.
