Handcrafted Papier-mache Pantalone Mask in the Commedia dell'arte Style - This theatrical character mask is designed in the style of the Italian Commedia dell'arte, specifically resembling the stock character Pantalone. The mask is handcrafted using a papier-mache technique. The interior construction reveals a base of coarse-weave gauze or cheesecloth impregnated with a hardening agent to provide structure. The exterior is finished with a textured, mottled red and black polychrome paint to simulate a dark, weathered appearance. The design features exaggerated facial traits including a prominent hooked aquiline nose and a heavily wrinkled forehead with deep horizontal furrows.
