A Set of Five Vintage Old World Figural Glass Christmas Light Covers - This set of five figural Christmas light covers is composed of molded glass, featuring subjects inspired by nursery rhymes and traditional folk dress. The collection includes a triple-face infant figure, a character depicted with green attire and hand-painted plaid pants, and three figures in stylized folk costumes with hand-painted details such as hearts and stripes. Some pieces feature an acid-etched or frosted finish, while others are clear glass. Each figure is hollow with a flanged collar at the top intended for use with small C6 or C7 Christmas light strings. Decoration consists of cold paint applied to the exterior surfaces. These types of holiday ornaments were commonly manufactured in Germany and Japan for the export market during the mid-20th century. The glass bodies are in good structural condition with no visible chips or cracks to the rims or bases. There is moderate to heavy flaking and loss of the original cold-painted decoration across all five items, most notably on the figures with plaid pants and folk costumes. Surface grime and light wear consistent with age are present.
