Miniature Woven Splint Gathering Basket in the Appalachian Style - A miniature oval gathering basket featuring a decorative open-weave body of hand-woven splints. The vessel is constructed with alternating natural and dark-dyed materials, terminating in a thick, twisted-splint rim. It features a fixed, wrapped overhead handle attached with God's eye pattern lashings, a characteristic feature of American Appalachian basketry. No maker's marks are present. Length: 4 1/4 inches. Very good condition with an aged patina. The weave and handle remain intact with no significant breaks, missing elements, or restoration.
