Antique American Floral Hooked Oval Rug - An antique American floral hooked rug of oval form, dating to the early to mid-20th century. The hand-hooked construction utilizes fabric strips, typically wool or a wool-blend, worked through a burlap foundation. The symmetrical design features a central floral bouquet on a cream-colored field. This center medallion is framed by a scrolled acanthus-style border in variegated gray and tan tones. The outer field is decorated with additional floral sprays on a light blue-gray ground, bordered by a solid dark navy blue edge. The color palette includes muted shades of dusty rose, pale yellow, sage green, cream, and blue. The rug is finished with a simple hand-stitched fabric edge binding.
