Bidspirit auction | Antique Persian Hamadan Hand-Knotted Wool

Antique Persian Hamadan Hand-Knotted Wool Area Rug - A hand-knotted wool pile rug originating from the Hamadan region of Northwest Persia. This rug features a single-wefted construction on a cotton foundation. The design consists of a salmon-colored field containing three aligned hexagonal medallions in deep indigo and light blue. The field is densely populated with stylized geometric floral palmettes and abstract animal motifs. It is enclosed by a main border of indigo blue with a repeating geometric floral design and multiple narrow guard borders. The rug displays visible abrash, or natural color variations, throughout the wool pile. Dimensions: Approximately 72 inches in length x 42 inches in width. The rug is in fair to good antique condition with moderate wear consistent with age. There is noticeable wear and unevenness to the fringe at both ends, with some losses. The side selvages show significant fraying and wear in several areas. The wool pile exhibits general thinning and some low spots from use. No major repairs or structural interventions are visible.
