Antique Northwest Persian Kurdish Tribal Hand Knotted Wool Rug - This hand knotted wool rug features a geometric tribal design characteristic of Northwest Persian or Kurdish weaving traditions, specifically resembling the Kordi or Sanjabi styles. The central field is rendered in a deep rust color, decorated with an arrangement of stylized hooked medallions, diamond motifs, and various geometric filler ornaments in navy blue, light blue, and charcoal grey. The field is enclosed by multiple decorative borders, including a primary border with repeating geometric floral elements and an outer reciprocal sawtooth guard border in ivory and dark brown. A small blue weaver's motif, resembling a Greek letter Pi or two joined T shapes, is visible in the lower center of the field. The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a wool foundation. Dimensions: 31.5 inches x 56.5 inches. The rug is in fair to poor condition, showing significant wear consistent with age and use. There are large areas of low pile and exposed foundation throughout the central field and borders. The fringes at both ends are heavily worn and uneven, and the side bindings (selvages) show fraying and structural loss in several places.
