Antique Caucasian or Northwest Persian Tribal Geometric Wool Rug - This hand-knotted tribal rug features a multi-paneled geometric field design. The central panel consists of a large, ground stepped medallion decorated with hooked ram's horn motifs. This central section is flanked by two indigo blue panels featuring repeating stylized anthropomorphic or zoomorphic figures. The field is enclosed by a primary border of polychrome rosettes and multiple narrow geometric guard borders. The rug is constructed of hand-spun wool pile on a wool foundation. The color palette includes naturally derived madder red, indigo blue, ochre, and undyed ivory wool. Width: 34 inches Length: 60 inches. This item is in heavily worn, antique condition. There is significant pile loss throughout the field, with large areas worn down to the foundation. The fringes are heavily worn and uneven with loss to the end finishes.
