Antique Hand Forged Wrought Iron Four Pronged Trap Drag - This item is a hand forged trap drag, a tool designed for use in trapping to snag on brush and terrain, thereby slowing a trapped animal. The drag is constructed from wrought iron rods that have been doubled and fire-welded at the neck to create a circular attachment eyelet at the top. From the central shaft, four prongs curve outward and upward, each terminating in a tapered point. The piece displays distinct hammer marks and irregularities consistent with primitive blacksmithing techniques. There are no visible maker marks, stamps, or patent dates on the metal surfaces. The text ERLES JANITORIAL SERVICE visible in the reference photographs is printed on a wooden ruler used for scale and is not part of the object. Length: Approximately 6 inches Width: Approximately 7 inches. The item is in well-used antique condition, characterized by heavy surface oxidation and rust throughout. The structural integrity is solid, with the hand-forged welds remaining intact and free of visible breaks. The four prongs are complete, though the points exhibit some dulling and wear consistent with age and field use.
