Bidspirit auction | A Set of Four Japanese
A Set of Four Japanese Hand Painted Ceramic Native American Souvenir Salt and Pepper Shakers and Canoe Base - This set of four Japanese hand-painted ceramic pieces serves as a mid-century salt and pepper souvenir from Windsor, Canada. The collection includes a canoe-shaped base featuring two small seated figures and two larger head-shaped shakers. The larger shakers are designed with stylized Indigenous themes, including one head wearing a polychrome war bonnet and another wearing a headband with a single blue feather. Both larger shakers retain a yellow sticker on the headdress printed with Windsor Canada. Markings include a green Hand Painted stamp on the underside of the larger head shakers and a red Japan stamp on the underside of the canoe base and the small seated figures. The larger shakers appear to retain their original cork stoppers. Canoe Base: approximately 7 inches in length Head Shakers: approximately 3 inches in width. The set is in good vintage condition with prominent all-over crazing to the glaze on all pieces. There are minor signs of wear to the hand-painted details. No significant chips, cracks, or repairs are visible.
