Germany 1938-A 2 Reichsmark Silver Coin - This German 2 Reichsmark coin was issued by the Deutsches Reich in 1938. The piece is composed of .625 silver. The obverse features a right-facing profile of Paul von Hindenburg with impressed legends reading 1847-1934 and Paul von Hindenburg in Fraktur script. The reverse displays an imperial eagle clutching a wreathed swastika, flanked by the denomination 2 and the word Reichsmark. The legend along the bottom rim reads Deutsches Reich 1938. A small impressed letter A is located on the reverse to the left of the central wreath, identifying the Berlin mint. This denomination was a standard circulating silver issue during the Third Reich period. The coin exhibits significant circulation wear across all surfaces. On the obverse, there is major flattening and loss of detail in Hindenburg's hair and ear (photo 1). The reverse shows similar wear on the eagle's breast feathers and the high points of the wings (photo 2). Both sides feature uneven dark toning, scattered hairlines, and numerous small contact marks in the fields and on the raised devices. No major rim nicks or edge damage are visible in the provided images.
