A Collection of UK Silver Threepence Coins 1864-1921 - A collection of seven UK silver threepence coins spanning the reigns of Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, and King George V. The group consists of coins dated 1864, 1885, 1907, 1916, 1917, 1918, and 1921. The coins minted prior to 1920 are composed of .925 sterling silver, while the 1921 issue is struck in .500 fine silver. The obverse designs feature regal portraits with readable Latin inscriptions: VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA F: D: on the 1864 Young Head and 1885 Jubilee Head issues; EDWARDVS VII D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP: on the 1907 issue; and GEORGIVS V D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP: on the 1916, 1917, 1918, and 1921 issues. The reverse of each coin displays a large crowned numeral 3 centered within a wreath of oak branches. Weight: 0.309 ozt. The coins are in circulated condition, ranging from about good to very fine. All specimens exhibit moderate to heavy surface wear on the high points of the portraits and reverse wreaths (Photos 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15). Significant dark toning and oxidation are present across the collection (Photos 1, 4, 10). The 1864 issue shows heavy wear to the high points and legends (Photos 4, 5). Minor surface scratches and small rim nicks are visible on several coins, notably the 1918 issue (Photos 12, 13). No third-party grading or authentication is present.
