A Group of Four UK and Canada Silver and Cupro-Nickel Coins, 1920-1948 - A collection of four coins comprising currency from the United Kingdom and Canada, spanning the reigns of King George V and King George VI. The lot includes a United Kingdom 1942 half crown composed of .500 fine silver, featuring a bare-headed portrait of King George VI with the obverse inscription GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX and a reverse displaying a crowned shield of quarterly arms with the legend FID: DEF: IND: IMP: HALF CROWN 1942. A 1948 cupro-nickel United Kingdom two shillings (florin) displays the same monarch's portrait on the obverse and a reverse featuring a rose, thistle, and shamrock under a crown, inscribed TWO SHILLINGS 1948. The Canadian coins include a 1920 25-cent piece in .800 fine silver, depicting a crowned King George V and a reverse with 25 CENTS 1920 inside a maple leaf wreath, and a King George VI 10-cent piece featuring the Bluenose schooner on the reverse. Weight: 1.060 ozt. The collection exhibits circulated condition with moderate to heavy wear throughout. The Canadian 1920 25-cent piece is heavily worn, showing significant flattening to the crown on the obverse and the maple leaf wreath and date on the reverse (photo 3). The 1942 half crown and 1948 two shillings display moderate wear to the high points of the portraits and shield designs, with numerous fine surface scratches and minor edge nicks visible (photos 5 and 7). The 10-cent piece shows moderate circulation wear to the schooner sails and the monarch's features (photo 9). Toning and surface grime are present on all four coins.
