Bidspirit auction | US 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar

US 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar - A US 1884-O Morgan silver dollar struck at the New Orleans Mint. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper and was produced using die-striking. The obverse features the George T. Morgan Liberty head design, with the date 1884 and the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse features a heraldic eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR. A readable embossed O mint mark is located on the reverse, centered below the ribbon of the wreath and above the denomination (photo 3). Weight: 0.845 ozt. This coin shows evidence of significant circulation, with wear patterns suggesting a Fine condition grade. Extensive flattening is visible on Liberty's hair and the highest points of the cap and wreath (photo 1). The eagle's breast and wing tips show substantial loss of feather detail (photo 2). Both sides exhibit heavy dark toning, most prominent along the rims and legends (photos 1 and 2). Frequent small contact marks, nicks, and surface abrasions are visible throughout the fields and across the central devices (photos 1, 2, and 3).
