Sterling Silver Southwestern Style Chip Inlay Knifewing Pendant on a Wheat Chain - A Southwestern style necklace featuring a detachable pendant suspended from a sterling silver chain. The pendant depicts a stylized Zuni Knifewing deity, a mythological figure characterized by its winged form and terraced headdress. The piece is decorated using a chip inlay technique with crushed blue turquoise, red coral, and black stone fragments, all set within silver channels. The Italian chain is a rounded wheat or foxtail style and is secured with a lobster claw clasp. Regarding marks, the trigger of the lobster clasp is impressed with 925 and one of the chain end caps is impressed with 925 and the word ITALY in a rectangular cartouche. The reverse of the pendant is smooth and bears no visible hallmarks or maker marks. Chain length: 27 inches Pendant: 2 inches high by 1.75 inches wide. The necklace is in good condition. The stone inlay appears complete with no missing sections visible in photo 2. The silver surfaces show light surface scratches and moderate tarnish consistent with age and use, particularly visible on the reverse of the pendant in photo 3. The lobster claw clasp is in functional working order.
