Wire Wrapped Black Cabochon Pendant - A handcrafted artisan jewelry pendant featuring a central marquise-shaped black cabochon stone. The stone is secured within a wire-wrapped frame constructed from rounded and flattened metal wire, incorporating decorative spiral elements at the top and sides. The reverse side features a structural wire frame. The metal is heavily tarnished and may be sterling silver or a silver-toned base metal. The black stone is a polished material, possibly obsidian or onyx. A small impressed mark is present on the reverse metal frame; however, the characters are worn and illegible (photo 4). The pendant is fitted with an integrated wire bail. Length 2.25 inches (including bail), width 0.75 inches at the widest point. The pendant shows significant surface oxidation and heavy tarnish throughout the metal wirework (photo 1). Minor surface abrasions and fine scratches are visible on the surface of the black cabochon (photo 2). Dust and debris have accumulated within the crevices of the wire wrapping (photo 3). The stamped mark on the reverse is illegible due to wear (photo 4). Testing for metal purity is recommended.
