Turkey Ottoman Empire Silver Coin Sultan Mehmed V AH 1327 Year 8 - An Ottoman Empire silver coin struck at the Constantinople mint during the reign of Sultan Mehmed V (Reshad). The obverse displays the sultan's calligraphic Tughra monogram enclosed within a decorative floral wreath of roses and leaves. The reverse features an Arabic inscription reading Duriba fi Qustantiniyah, which translates to Struck in Constantinople. The accession year 1327 is inscribed in Arabic numerals at the bottom of the reverse, and the regnal year 8 is positioned directly above the central inscription. The coin is in circulated condition with significant wear to the raised calligraphic and floral details on both the obverse and reverse (photos 1 and 2). A dark grey patina and surface toning are present throughout. The coin has been modified with a circular hole drilled through the upper edge, indicating past use as a jewelry pendant (photo 1).
