Bidspirit auction | Southwest Style Silver Toned Oval
Southwest Style Silver Toned Oval Green Stone Ring - A silver-toned ring featuring a large oval green cabochon stone. The stone is secured in a bezel setting and is surrounded by a decorative rope-twist border and an ornate outer frame composed of scrollwork and applied metallic beads. The ring is constructed with a split-shoulder shank that tapers to a solid band. The design is characteristic of Southwest or Native American style jewelry. No hallmarks, maker marks, or metal fineness stamps are visible on any surface of the interior or exterior of the band. The metal displays heavy oxidation, particularly within the recessed decorative elements and the interior of the shank. Given the lack of markings, testing is recommended to confirm whether the metal is sterling silver or a plated alloy. Size: approximately US size 15 as shown on the mandrel. The ring is in fair condition. The green stone has a prominent, deep horizontal fracture running through the center (photos 1, 2, and 8) and exhibits various surface scratches and small pits (photos 2 and 4). The silver-toned metal shows heavy tarnish and oxidation, especially in the crevices of the scrollwork and bezel (photos 1, 5, and 6). There is general surface wear, including minor nicks and abrasions to the band and setting, consistent with age and regular use (photos 3 and 5).
