Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Mexican Alpaca

A Pair of Mexican Alpaca and Abalone Shell Geometric Dangle Earrings - A matched pair of large, lozenge-shaped dangle earrings of Mexican origin. Each earring features a diamond-shaped frame with a central diamond cutout, constructed from white metal. The front face is ornamented with a mosaic of iridescent abalone shell pieces set alongside a black inlay material. The earrings are suspended from fixed French hook ear wires. The reverse of each earring is impressed with two lines of text: the first line reads ALPACA and the second line reads MEXICO. The ALPACA mark indicates the material is a non-precious nickel silver alloy. Across the widest point: 1 inch Drop length: 2.25 inches Total length including hook: 2.75 inches. The earrings are in good vintage condition. The front decorative faces are well-preserved with the abalone shell inlays exhibiting natural iridescence and growth patterns; one earring shows a small natural dark inclusion (photo 2). The reverse sides of both pieces show significant surface oxidation, heavy tarnish, and fine scratching consistent with age (photo 3). The ear wires are intact and functional.
