US 1890-O Morgan Silver Dollar - A US silver dollar dated 1890, produced at the New Orleans Mint. The coin features the Morgan obverse design and the Eagle and Wreath reverse design. It is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper with a reeded edge. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE DOLLAR are present on the reverse, along with the motto In God we trust in Gothic script. An O mint mark is impressed on the reverse, situated above the letters DO in DOLLAR (photo 2). Weight: 0.843 ozt. The coin exhibits heavy circulation wear. On the obverse, the high points of the hair and cap are worn smooth, and the fields show numerous contact marks, scratches, and small dark spots of toning (photo 1). The reverse shows significant smoothing of the eagle's breast feathers and laurel wreath, with visible abrasions across the surfaces (photo 2). The coin has a dull gray patina consistent with its circulated state.
