1916 UK Silver One Shilling Coin King George V - A 1916 UK one shilling coin composed of .925 sterling silver, struck during the reign of King George V. The obverse features the left-facing uncrowned portrait of the monarch. The visible legend around the rim is inscribed GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN:. The reverse depicts a crowned lion standing atop a crown, with the date 19 16 split by the central figure. The reverse legends are inscribed FID: DEF: IND: IMP: at the top and ONE SHILLING at the base. The coin is housed in a clear protective plastic flip. The coin is in circulated condition with significant wear to the high relief areas. The monarch's hair and mustache on the obverse show distinct flattening (photo 1), as do the lion's mane and crown details on the reverse (photo 2). The surfaces exhibit heavy dark toning and tarnish, concentrated mostly in the recessed fields. Scattered contact marks and small surface scratches are visible across both faces (photos 1 and 2). The rim appears generally intact without major damage or nicks.
