A Collection of CA Silver Coins Victoria to Elizabeth II - A group of struck silver coinage from Canada consisting of two 25-cent pieces, several 10-cent pieces, and one 5-cent piece. Obverse portraits represent British monarchs Victoria, Edward VII, George V, George VI, and Elizabeth II. Legible obverse inscriptions include VICTORIA DEI GRATIA REGINA CANADA, EDWARDVS VII DEI GRATIA REX IMPERATOR, GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP:, GEORGIVS VI D: G: REX ET IND: IMP:, and ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. Reverse designs feature crowned maple leaf wreaths on the earlier issues and the Bluenose schooner on the later 10-cent pieces. Legible dates include 1886 (5 cents), 1919, 1920, 1960, and 1965 (10 cents). The group includes catalog types KM# 2, KM# 11, KM# 23, KM# 24, and KM# 51. Weight: 0.809 ozt. Condition is poor to fair overall. All specimens exhibit significant circulation wear with flattened high points on portraits and reverse designs (photo 1). The 1920 10-cent piece displays green verdigris oxidation on the reverse (photo 3). The 1886 5-cent piece is dark and heavily worn (photo 5). Both 25-cent pieces show extreme wear and surface abrasion, resulting in obscured dates (photo 7). Toning varies from light gray to dark charcoal across the collection.
