UK Copper-Alloy Halfpenny Off-Center Strike Error Coin - This UK copper-alloy halfpenny features a significant mint error consisting of a 20-25 percent off-center strike. The strike is displaced toward the upper right, leaving a portion of the planchet blank. The reverse depicts a seated figure of Britannia facing left with a shield at her side; a portion of the legend reading H A L F P E is visible along the upper rim. The obverse features an intertwined script monogram beneath a crown, flanked by two small crosses. A capital letter W is visible at the lower left edge of the flan where the peripheral legend was intended to be struck. The script monogram is not legible as a specific name. The coin is accompanied by a vintage square tan paper label with a hand-written pencil inscription that reads Great Brit - Half Penny OFF CENTER. Diameter: approximately 7/8 inch. The coin is in circulated condition with heavy wear visible on both faces. The central figure of Britannia and the legend on the reverse exhibit significant flattening and loss of detail (Photo 1). The obverse monogram and crown are similarly worn, with most fine details obscured (Photo 2). The surfaces display an even, deep chocolate brown patina throughout. Minor surface marks and edge irregularities are present, consistent with a circulated 18th-century copper issue (Photo 1, Photo 2).
