Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Van Dell

A Pair of Van Dell Sterling Silver and Purple Gemstone Screw-Back Earrings - This matched pair of American mid-century screw-back earrings is crafted in sterling silver. Each earring features a large oval-faceted purple gemstone secured by a four-prong setting. The central stones are accented by a stylized, polished silver motif resembling a swirling ribbon or foliate leaf. The earrings utilize non-pierced screw-back mechanisms for attachment. Each earring bears a stamped mark on the back of the screw-back pad consisting of the name Van Dell in a script font and the word STERLING in sans-serif capital characters. The pair is presented in its original manufacturer presentation box. The cream-colored interior lid of the box is printed with a banner logo featuring the name Van Dell in script above the words STERLING SILVER. A separate black and gold foil adhesive tag inside the box also reads Van Dell in script. The exterior of the box features a textured cream finish with a pattern of dark, six-pointed stars. Based on the ruler visible in the fourth photograph, each earring measures approximately 1 inch (25.4 mm) in length at the longest point. Weight: Approximately 4 grams (estimated). The earrings are in excellent vintage condition. There is light surface wear and minor tarnish to the silver consistent with age. The faceted purple gemstones are secure in their settings and show no visible chips or scratches to the facets in photos 1 and 2. The screw-back mechanisms are in good working order. The original presentation box shows moderate wear along the exterior edges (photo 5) and light discoloration or age-toning to the interior cream-colored lining (photo 1).
