US 1881 Silver Dollar Coin - A US 1881 silver dollar coin. The piece is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. The obverse bears the inscriptions E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY, and the date 1881. The reverse bears the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, In God we trust, and ONE DOLLAR. There is no mint mark present below the laurel wreath on the reverse, identifying it as a Philadelphia Mint issue. The coin features a reeded edge. This issue is cataloged as KM# 110. Weight: 0.858 ozt. The coin is in circulated condition, exhibiting wear on the high relief areas including the hair above the ear on the obverse (photo 1) and the eagle's breast on the reverse (photo 2). Scattered surface marks and bag marks are visible in the fields on both sides. A localized dark spot of oxidation is present on the obverse rim at the 1 o'clock position (photo 1). The surfaces exhibit light overall toning and muted luster.
