A Group of Four Mexican Silver Coins Including 1968 Olympic 25 Pesos and 1958 Un Peso Issues - A group of four vintage Mexican silver coins consisting of three commemorative 25 Pesos pieces and one 1958 Un Peso coin. The three 25 Pesos coins were issued for the Games of the XIX Olympiad in 1968 and feature an obverse design of an Aztec ball player in ceremonial attire above the Olympic rings, surrounded by the struck legend JUEGOS DE LA XIX OLIMPIADA MEXICO 1968. The reverse of these coins depicts the National Arms of Mexico with an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a snake, with the legends ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, 25 PESOS, and the silver fineness LEY 0.720. A Mexico City Mint mark, consisting of an M with a small o above it, is located on the reverse. The 1958 Un Peso coin features a profile portrait of José María Morelos on the obverse accompanied by the Mexico City M mint mark. The reverse displays the National Arms within a wreath and the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS UN PESO 1958. Each coin measures approximately 1.5 inches in diameter. Total weight: 2.676 ozt. The coins are in circulated, uncleaned condition with heavy surface oxidation and dark toning throughout (photos 1-9). All pieces exhibit surface wear, handling marks, and minor scratches consistent with circulation, particularly on the high points of the relief designs (photos 2, 4, 6, 8). The 1958 Un Peso coin shows several spots of green verdigris corrosion along the rim and heavily worn fields (photo 9). Luster is dull across the group due to environmental exposure.
