A Collection of US Indian Head One-Cent Coins - A collection of bronze one-cent coins issued by the US. The obverse of each coin features a profile of Liberty wearing a Native American headdress, surrounded by the circumscribed text UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date at the bottom. The reverse design displays the denomination ONE CENT centered within a wreath of oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon, positioned beneath a small shield at the top. The collection includes various dates ranging from the late 19th through the early 20th century, with confirmed readable dates including 1883, 1887, 1893, 1895, 1896, 1897, 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1905, 1907, and 1908. The coins are struck in bronze and feature plain edges. The coins exhibit heavy circulation and significant wear across all design elements. The high points of the designs, including the headdress feathers and Liberty's facial features, show substantial smoothing and loss of detail (photo 1). Toning ranges from medium to dark brown, with many pieces displaying uneven oxidation and surface grime. Scattered scratches, minor rim nicks, and surface pitting are visible throughout the lot. Several coins show signs of advanced environmental damage, including heavy patches of green verdigris and oxidation on both the obverse and reverse surfaces (photo 5, photo 9). No third-party grades or certifications are present.
