Mexican Sterling Silver and Crushed Stone Mosaic Brooch Pendant - A Mexican sterling silver convertible brooch and pendant featuring a stylized Mesoamerican profile motif. The central figure is rendered in a reddish-brown metal, depicted wearing a tiered headdress and circular ear spools. The background is composed of a crushed stone mosaic inlay, primarily featuring green fragments accented with small pieces of blue and cream stone. The circular frame and reverse are silver. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin featuring a rotating safety clasp and a soldered pendant bale. The reverse bears an impressed circular mark with the characters MEXICO along the top edge and CP in the center. An eagle assay mark in a bell shape is also present, though the number inside is not legible. Diameter: 1.5 inches Weight: 0.372 ozt. The item is in good vintage condition. The crushed stone inlay is complete with no missing fragments visible in the primary photograph. The silver components on the reverse exhibit significant rainbow-colored oxidation and surface scratches (photo 4). The pin mechanism and pendant bale are functional and securely attached.
