Vintage Sterling Silver and Rhinestone Waving American Flag Brooch - A vintage sterling silver brooch depicting a waving American flag attached to a flagpole. The flagpole features a spherical finial at the top and a decorative draped tassel. The flag is pave-set with faceted round rhinestones, including blue stones in the canton and alternating rows of red and clear stones in the stripes. The brooch is constructed of silver-tone metal and features a horizontal pin stem with a C-clasp safety mechanism on the reverse. On the lower front portion of the flagpole, there is a vertically oriented incised mark reading STERLING. Height: 2 1/4 inches from the top of the finial to the base of the pole. Width: 1 3/4 inches at the widest point of the waving flag. The brooch is in fair vintage condition with visible defects. There are multiple missing stones, including a red stone in the bottom right stripe and a clear stone in the center right section (photo 1, photo 3). Several clear rhinestones have yellowed or browned due to foil deterioration (photo 2). The blue canton contains some clear stones which may be original or later replacements (photo 2). The metal surface shows significant tarnish and oxidation, particularly on the reverse and along the edges of the flagpole (photo 4).
