1942 UK George VI Silver One Shilling Coin - A 1942 United Kingdom silver one shilling coin struck in 0.500 silver. The obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George VI surrounded by the legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX. A pair of small, impressed letters reading HP is located at the base of the neck. The reverse shows a crowned lion standing upon a crown, with the letters K and G impressed to the left and right of the lion's tail. The reverse legend reads FID DEF IND IMP, ONE SHILLING, and includes the date 19 42. The coin is finished with a reeded edge. The coin is in circulated condition. The obverse shows wear to the high points of the King's hair and face, with dark surface grime and scattered contact marks visible in the fields (photo 1). The reverse displays similar wear on the lion and crown, with dark toning and accumulated grime in the recessed areas (photo 2). There are no visible signs of cleaning or major damage.
