1988-S US Mint Prestige Proof Set including Olympic Silver Dollar - A 1988-S US Mint Prestige Proof Set housed in a burgundy velvet-lined book-style presentation case. The collection includes a commemorative 1988-S Olympic Silver Dollar and five standard circulating proof coins: a Kennedy half dollar, Washington quarter, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel, and Lincoln cent. All coins feature the S mint mark indicating production at the San Francisco Mint. The silver dollar is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper, with a pure silver content of 0.76 troy ounces. The coins are struck with mirrored fields and frosted devices. The set is accompanied by its original Certificate of Authenticity featuring a printed signature of Director Donna Pope and the red cardboard outer slipcase. The inner lid of the case is printed in silver with the Olympic rings logo and text reading USA United States Mint 1988 Prestige Set. The outer slipcase features a silver-printed Great Seal of the United States above the text UNITED STATES MINT 1988 PRESTIGE SET. The 1988-S Olympic Silver Dollar exhibits heavy, dark, irregular toning across the obverse surface, obscuring portions of the mirrored fields (photo 2). The standard circulating coins appear bright with no visible toning. The red cardboard outer slipcase shows minor shelf wear, surface scuffing, and edge rubbing (photo 6). The burgundy velvet case and inner lining show no significant signs of wear.
