Bidspirit auction | A Brutalist Style Rectangular Pendant
A Brutalist Style Rectangular Pendant Brooch in Silver and Gold Toned Metal - A Brutalist style jewelry piece designed for dual use as a pendant and a brooch. The item features a rectangular open-work wire frame constructed from silver-toned metal. Contained within the frame is a central abstract plaque with a heavily textured, organic surface and a raised, undulating center. Localized gold-toned accents are present on the central plaque and within the frame structure. The reverse of the piece is fitted with a pin back and a simple hook catch. An integrated bail is situated at the top for suspension as a pendant. No maker marks, hallmarks, or metal fineness stamps are visible on any surface of the piece. Weight: 0.266 ozt. The piece exhibits significant dark oxidation and tarnish, which is most prominent on the reverse side (photo 4) and within the recesses of the textured plaque (photo 1). There is a minor deformation to the pendant bail at the top of the frame (photo 1). The heavily textured and irregular surface of the central plaque is a design feature consistent with the Brutalist aesthetic and does not represent wear or damage.
