1801 US Draped Bust Large Cent - An 1801 US Draped Bust Large Cent struck in copper at the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse features the Draped Bust type with the date 1801 legible at the base and the inscription LIBERTY at the top. The reverse displays a wreath surrounding the denomination ONE CENT, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the fraction 1/100 at the base. The coin possesses a dark grayish-brown patina. Diameter: approximately 1.125 inches (28.6 mm). The coin is in a heavily circulated state consistent with an About Good to Good details grade. Significant surface pitting and oxidation are present across both faces (photos 1 and 2). Numerous scratches are visible in the obverse fields and across the central portrait (photo 1). The rim exhibits several small dings and uneven wear (photo 2). While heavily worn, the date and primary reverse legends remain legible.
