Large Gilded Metal and Carved Wood Oak Leaf and Acorn Brooch - A large figural costume jewelry brooch featuring a botanical oak branch motif. The design includes two deeply lobed oak leaves and three acorns. The leaves and branch are crafted from a gold-toned base metal with a heavy stippled texture on the leaf surfaces and acorn caps. Two of the acorns are dangling elements made of carved wood with a visible grain and a polished reddish-brown finish. The third, smaller acorn is cast entirely in metal. The reverse of the brooch shows a textured, concave casting. A long horizontal pin stem is mounted to the back, secured with a rollover safety clasp. No maker marks, signatures, or stamps are present on the reverse or the pin mechanism. Length: 3.75 inches Width: 2.75 inches. The brooch exhibits wear consistent with age. There is significant loss and rubbing to the gold-toned finish, particularly on the reverse and along the raised edges of the leaf lobes, exposing a darker patinated base metal (Photo 3). The carved wooden acorns are in good condition with no visible cracks or abrasions (Photo 2). The pin mechanism is intact and functional (Photo 3).
