UK 1943 George VI Silver Sixpence - This 1943 UK sixpence is struck in .500 fine silver. The obverse features a left-facing uncrowned portrait of King George VI with the legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX. The reverse displays a crowned GRI cypher centered between the date 1943. The upper legend reads FID DEF IND IMP and the denomination SIXPENCE is located at the base. The coin is housed in a clear protective flip. The coin shows a circulated appearance with moderate wear on the high points of the portrait (photo 1) and the central crown on the reverse (photo 2). The surfaces exhibit a dull luster with scattered light scratches and dark toning spots, particularly in the reverse field near the 3 in the date (photo 2) and near the R of the obverse legend (photo 1). No visible cleaning or edge damage is apparent.
