Italian Sterling Silver Lariat Necklace with Spiral Cage Pendant - An Italian sterling silver lariat-style necklace featuring a twisted rope chain. The necklace terminates in a decorative drop assembly composed of three dark metallic-lustre beads, a larger spherical bead with a brushed finish, and a final pendant formed from silver-tone wire in a spiral cage design. The piece is secured with a spring ring clasp. The metal content and origin are indicated by stamps on the end tags. One tag is impressed with the word ITALY and features an oval cartouche containing the numerals 925. Adjacent to these marks is a provincial registration stamp consisting of a star followed by characters that are not fully legible. The opposite end tag bears an impressed three-lobed clover symbol. Weight: 0.226 ozt. The necklace exhibits surface tarnish and light oxidation throughout the chain and pendant components (photos 1, 2, 5). A jump ring connecting the bead assembly to the clasp shows a yellowish or brassy discoloration contrasting with the silver color of the rest of the piece (photo 3). Minor surface abrasions and contact marks are visible on the larger beads and the spiral pendant (photo 5).
