1896 ES Silver 50 Centimos Alfonso XIII Coin - This 1896 silver 50 Centimos coin was minted in Spain under the reign of Alfonso XIII. The obverse features a juvenile portrait of the monarch with the encircling legend ALFONSO XIII 1896 POR LA G DE DIOS. A small mark consisting of the initials B.M. is struck below the neck. The reverse displays the crowned Spanish coat of arms between the Pillars of Hercules, surrounded by the legend REY CONSTL. DE ESPAÑA 50 CENT. The initials P.G. and V. are visible at the base flanking the denomination. The coin is struck in .835 silver. Reference: KM# 706. The coin exhibits circulated condition with moderate wear on the high points of the juvenile portrait and the coat of arms (photo 1 and 2). Dark, natural peripheral toning is present on both sides. Scattered minor surface marks and light contact nicks are visible in the fields (photo 1). No evidence of cleaning or harsh damage is observed.
