1944-D US Philippines Silver 20 Centavos Coin - This 1944-D US Philippines twenty centavos coin is struck in .750 fine silver. It features the Woman at Anvil obverse design with the legends TWENTY CENTAVOS and FILIPINAS. The reverse displays the Commonwealth Coat of Arms design and is inscribed UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 1944. A small D mint mark is impressed on the reverse above the date. The coin corresponds to catalog reference KM# 182. It is presented in a standard white cardboard and plastic 2x2 holder. The holder bears several handwritten annotations in black ink: a word in cursive reading Philippines at the bottom left, the word Silver, a numeric 7, the characters S,1, and a stylized double W mark. The coin displays moderate circulation wear consistent with a very fine grade, with softening of detail on the high points of the obverse figure's hair and the reverse eagle's breast (photo 1, 2). Dark toning is present within the recessed areas of the design and legends (photo 1). Several light surface scratches are visible in the reverse fields (photo 2).
