Three US 1986-S Statue of Liberty Centennial Commemorative Proof Coins - A trio of US commemorative coins struck in 1986 to mark the centennial of the Statue of Liberty, consisting of one silver dollar and two half dollars. All three specimens are San Francisco Mint proof strikes, identified by the raised S mint mark. The dollar coin is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper (.7734 oz ASW). The obverse features a Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island design, inscribed L I B E R T Y, ELLIS ISLAND, GATEWAY TO AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, 1986, and S. The reverse features a Statue of Liberty torch design with an excerpt from the Emma Lazarus poem The New Colossus, inscribed UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and ONE DOLLAR. The two half dollar coins are copper-nickel clad. The obverse features a Statue of Liberty and rising sun design, inscribed LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 1986, and S. The reverse features an immigrant family design, inscribed UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and HALF DOLLAR. All coins are contained within individual clear plastic capsules. Dollar measures 1.5 inches in diameter. Half dollars measure 1.2 inches in diameter. The coins appear in uncirculated proof condition, characterized by frosted devices and mirrored fields. No visible toning, wear, or post-mint damage is observed on the coins themselves across all images (photos 2-7). The clear plastic protective capsules show significant surface scuffing and scratches (photos 1, 8).
