A Pair of 1947 Republic of Panama 1/10 Balboa Silver Coins - A pair of .900 fine silver coins issued by the Republic of Panama with a denomination of Un Décimo de Balboa, both dated 1947. The obverse of each specimen features the left-facing profile of Vasco Núñez de Balboa in 16th-century armor and a morion helmet, surrounded by the legend VN·DECIMO DE BALBOA. The reverse displays the coat of arms of Panama surmounted by an eagle and nine stars, flanked by flags. The legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA is inscribed along the upper rim, with the date 1947 at the bottom. The reverse also bears technical specifications: an inscription on the left reads LEY 0.900, indicating silver fineness, and an inscription on the right reads GR. 2.50, indicating the weight. The coins have reeded edges. Weight: 2.50 grams (per coin as inscribed). Both coins are in circulated condition. One specimen displays a bright silver color with light surface wear and minor contact marks visible on the obverse (photo 2) and reverse (photo 3). The second specimen exhibits significant dark, mottled toning and environmental tarnish across both the obverse (photo 4) and reverse (photo 5).
