Sterling Silver Victorian Crab Claw Pendant Necklace - A sterling silver necklace featuring a natural specimen pendant. The pendant consists of a natural bone specimen, identified contextually as a crab claw, which displays a row of rounded, molar-like teeth. The specimen is secured at the top by a plain, unadorned sterling silver cap. The pendant is attached to a sterling silver long-and-short link chain, similar to a Figaro style. The necklace is fastened with a spring ring clasp. A clear stamp reading STERLING is impressed on the outer edge of the spring ring clasp. No other maker names, hallmarks, or labels are visible on the item. Chain length: 23.5 inches Pendant length: 1.75 inches. All sterling silver components, including the chain and pendant cap, show heavy dark tarnish and patina (photo 1). There is a visible accumulation of green verdigris corrosion on the small loop that connects to the spring ring clasp (photo 6). The natural specimen shows age-related yellowing and minor dark staining in the crevices between the tooth-like protrusions (photo 4). The item is structurally sound.
