A Group of US Indian Head One Cent Coins Dated 1891 to 1905 - A group of United States bronze one cent coins issued between 1891 and 1905. The obverse of each coin features the James B. Longacre design of Liberty in a Native American headdress. The legend on the obverse is struck with the text UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the specific year of mintage below the bust. The reverse design consists of an oak wreath and a shield at the top, enclosing the denomination ONE CENT. This group includes specimens dated 1891, 1893, 1895, 1898, 1899, 1902, 1903, 1904, and 1905. No mint marks are present, signifying production at the US Mint in Philadelphia. The coins are in circulated condition, exhibiting heavy wear and environmental damage. Significant green oxidation and verdigris are visible on the 1898 specimen and other coins in the group (photo 3, 7). Dark, uneven toning and surface pitting are present across the collection (photo 1, 9). One 1904-dated coin has been modified with a hole drilled at the 12 o'clock position (photo 5). The relief on the majority of the coins is flattened, and some legends are partially obscured by wear and corrosion (photo 10).
