A Pair of Guillotine Motif Mixed-Metal Earrings and a Pair of Claddagh Motif Drop Earrings - This lot features two pairs of mixed-metal decorative earrings. The first pair consists of drop earrings featuring a guillotine motif, a design often associated with French Revolution historical reproductions. The construction utilizes a silver-tone rectangular frame acting as the scaffold, with a gold-tone crescent moon mounted behind the top. A small gold-tone weight is suspended from an internal cross-bar, and a stylized golden finial is attached to the base. These earrings use post-back fasteners with plastic nut backings. No maker marks or metal purity hallmarks are visible on either piece. The second pair includes traditional Irish Claddagh drop earrings. The gold-tone charms depict the classic motif of two hands holding a crowned heart. The center of each heart is set with a heart-shaped light greenish-yellow cabochon gemstone. The charms are suspended from copper-tone fishhook ear wires. There are no readable maker marks, signatures, or metal stamps on the charms. Guillotine earrings: 1.75 inches length by 0.7 inches width Claddagh earrings: 1.5 inches total drop length; charm 0.6 inches wide. The guillotine earrings are in fair to good vintage condition. There is visible wear and thinning to the silver-tone plating on the rectangular frames, exposing a darker base metal underneath (photo 2). Minor surface abrasions are present on the moon elements. The Claddagh earrings are in fair condition, showing significant wear and oxidation to the gold-tone finish, particularly on the textured reverse sides and the edges of the crown (photo 6). The ear wires appear to be replacements, as they exhibit a different metallic tone and oxidation pattern than the charms (photo 8). The gemstones are intact and secure in their settings.
