A Group of Four Industrial and Labor Silver Gelatin Lantern Slides - A collection of four silver gelatin lantern slides (glass plate positives) documenting various industrial and technical subjects. The images include a subterranean mining scene featuring two laborers loading a cart with shovels; a technician operating a complex mechanical apparatus; a close-up view of hands using precision tools on a small object; and a large-scale piece of industrial machinery, possibly an ore crusher or mill. The slides are constructed of glass plates bound at the edges with black paper tape. One slide features a small white label with a red diagonal slash, and another has a label with the handwritten number 8 in red ink. Slide label 2: 8 in red ink. Each slide: 3.25 x 4 inches (8.3 x 10.2 cm) Box: 3.5 x 4.25 inches (8.9 x 10.8 cm). The slides exhibit visible surface dust, fingerprints, and light surface scratches. The black paper tape binding on all four slides shows significant wear, including fraying, tearing, and peeling away from the glass edges. The original cardboard box shows significant edge rubbing, surface toning, and paper loss at the corners.
